1. Acceptance. By accessing or using Meridian, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use Meridian.

3. Accounts. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it updated.

4. Acceptable use. You agree not to misuse the platform, including attempting to disrupt the service, scrape data at scale, reverse-engineer the platform, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

5. Subscriptions and payments. Paid plans (where offered) are billed as described at the point of purchase. Usage limits, features, and pricing may change with notice. Any top-up or add-on purchases are subject to the terms shown at checkout.

6. Content and intellectual property. The platform, its design, and its original content are owned by Meridian Intelligence. News headlines and third-party data remain the property of their respective owners and are used for informational purposes.

7. No warranty. The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate.

8. Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Meridian shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

9. Termination. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms. You may stop using the service at any time.

10. Changes. We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India, with jurisdiction in the courts of Chennai, India.

Information we collect. We collect the information you provide when you create an account (such as your email address), and data you generate by using the platform (such as your chats, watchlist, and portfolio entries).

How we use it. We use your information to provide and improve the service, personalise your experience (such as showing news related to your watchlist), enforce usage limits, and communicate with you about the service.

AI processing. Your questions and relevant context may be sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate responses. We do not sell your personal data.

Data storage. Your data is stored securely with our infrastructure providers (including Supabase and Vercel). We take reasonable measures to protect it, though no system is completely secure.

Third parties. We rely on third-party services for hosting, data, payments, and AI. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

Your rights. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. You may delete your account at any time.

Cookies. We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to operate the service.

Free trial first. Every new account begins with a free 14-day Premium trial, giving you full access to evaluate the service before any payment. We encourage you to use the trial to decide whether Meridian is right for you.

Subscriptions are non-refundable. Paid plans (Pro and Premium) are billed on a one-time monthly basis — there is no automatic recurring charge. Because you can evaluate the full service free during the trial, subscription payments are non-refundable once made.

No auto-renewal. Your paid plan does not renew automatically. Access continues until the end of the period you paid for, after which your account reverts to the free Observer tier unless you choose to pay again. There is nothing to "cancel" — simply do not renew.

Top-up chat packs. Top-up packs are digital credits consumed as you use them and are non-refundable once purchased.

Failed or duplicate payments. If you are charged but your account is not upgraded, or you are charged more than once for the same purchase, contact us and we will investigate and refund any erroneous or duplicate charge.
